| Guided Inspection
Luminary
Software
has developed an inspection technique that is guided by test cases.
This technique - we call it Guided Inspection - is useful for inspecting
the products of most phases of a standard software development life
cycle. We have written about this technique in a regular column
in the Journal of Object-Oriented Programming: The
Fifty Foot Look at Analysis and Design Models and Validating
Domain Models.
Luminary
Software
offers an inspection service. We will facilitate the inspection
of analysis and design models or other project artifacts while mentoring
your personnel. We keep your project moving forward while improving
your staff's ability to perform inspections.
Studies
have shown that even newly trained inspectors will find 50% of the
defects in the designs or code that is inspected. As their experience
grows, this percentage increases rapidly. This drastically reduces
the number of defects that must be detected by testing the supposedly
finished product.
The
Software Engineering Institute has developed a Technology Review
on inspections that can be found at http://www.sei.cmu.edu/str/descriptions/inspections.html.
Guided Inspection gives you the benefits of Fagan style inspections
with the added benefit of being able to precisely target high priority
facets of systems.
We
offer a one-day or a half-day course or a two-hour executive overview
of Guided Inspections. We also offer mentoring services that provide
in-depth assistance to your organization.
